Shelley King joins Coronation Street

Shelley King joins the cast of long running British soap Coronation Street as Yasmeen Nazir. She will make her first appearance this summer.

Shelley joins series newcomer Kal, played by Jimi Mistry, and her on-screen husband Sharif, played by Marc Anwar to complete the Nazir family. Sair Khan was cast last month as Kal’s wayward daughter Alya and Qasim Akhtar as his teenage son Zeedan.


Born in Calcutta, Shelley King is a leading Anglo-Indian actress. Television credits include series regular in Tandoori Nights, leads in Banglatown Banquet, The Bill, Silent Witness, Angels, Holby City. She recently played the role of Celandine in Atlantis for BBC TV.

Theatre productions include Women of Troy, The Man of Mode, Tartuffe and Little Clay Cart all for the National Theatre, Bombay Dreams Original West End Cast, Free Outgoing for the Royal Court and Hobson's Choice for the Young Vic. She has also worked extensively with Tara Arts and is also chair of Kali Theatre Company.

Feature Films include Nothing Like This, All In Good Time and Code 46.

Shelley plays Yasmeen Nazir in long running British soap Coronation Street on ITV.
