The west end transfer production of Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street has won a What’s on Stage Award in this years 2013 awards held at the Palace Theatre. Helen Colby appeared alongside Olivier award-winner Michael Ball and Oscar nominee and BAFTA award-winner Imelda Staunton, this acclaimed production transferred directly from a sell-out season at Chichester Festival Theatre to the Adelphi Theatre in the West End. The show won the award for Best Musical Revival at last night’s ceremony, the only major prize-giving for theatre voted for purely by the ticket-buying public.
Over 60,000 people took part in the voting for the 2013 Awards, which recognised the stage achievements of some of the biggest names in the worlds of theatre, film and music.
Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, also claimed three further awards with Best Director to Jonathan Kent, Best Actress in a Musical to Imelda Staunton and Best Actor in a Musical to Michael Ball.
Helen Colby trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. Her theatre credits include the West End productions of Sweeney Todd at The Adelphi and Sister Act at The London Palladium, as well as the UK Tour of The Sound of Music.About Sainou
