Chichester Festival Theatre’s production of Gypsy goes back into rehearsals this week ahead of a West End run at the Savoy Theatre. Damien Poole joins Imelda Staunton who returns to play the legendary Mama Rose.
Based on the memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee, with lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, featuring classics such as Let Me Entertain You, Rose’s Turn and Everything’s Coming Up Roses, Gypsy is both moving and spectacularly entertaining.
The show opens officially on April 15th will run until 28th November.Overview
Damien Poole trained at Arts Ed and created the role of the Mad Hatter in the original West End cast of Shrek. He then joined the original cast of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. He was the Alternate Teen Angel in Grease at the Piccadilly Theatre, West End, and was selected to be part of the West End chorus for Chess In Concert at the Royal Albert Hall.
Damien played Kansas in Gypsy at Chichester Festival Theatre which then transferred to the West End.
He now joins the original London cast of Groundhog Day at the Old Vic Theatre.About Sainou
