Kerry Shale plays Bobby in The Man Who Jumped from Space on BBC Radio 4 today. The drama is based on real-life events, written by Andy Walker and produced by Gary Brown. Kerry stars alongside Simon Lee Phillips and David Fleeshman.
The Man Who Jumped from Space tells the story of Captain Joe Kittinger, who set the record for the longest parachute freefall at four minutes and 36 seconds in 1960. Project Excelsior was initiated in 1958 to design a system that would allow a safe and controlled descent after a high-altitude ejection, however the first test was a near-disaster.
