Franc Ashman is to play Lorraine in Natasha Gordon’s debut play Nine Night – a touching and funny exploration of the rituals of family.

Gloria is gravely sick and when her time comes, the celebration begins. For Gloria’s children and grandchildren, marking her death with a party that lasts over a week is a test. The traditional Jamaican Wake is Nine nights of music, food, sharing stories – and an endless parade of mourners.

Roy Alexander Weise directs this new play with a cast including Cecilia Noble and will run from 21 April to 26 May.

Franc Ashman boasts an impressive list of theatre credits having performed extensively for the Royal Shakespeare Company, National Theatre and acclaimed theatre company Out of Joint under the direction of Max Stafford-Clark.

Recent screen credits include The Child in Time for the BBC, Apple Tree Yard for Kudos and Sick of it for Sky1. Franc lent her voice to the soundtrack of the Gary Oldman penned feature film Nil By Mouth and can be heard singing the theme song 'Peculiar Groove'.
