Robert Perkins begins rehearsals this week for murder mystery play, Dial M for Murder which begins its UK tour at the Mercury Theatre Colchester in February.

Tony is convinced his wife Sheila is having an affair and, wracked with jealousy, decides to dispatch her in what he’s convinced is the perfect murder until, his plan falters in the most unexpected way.

Famously filmed by Alfred Hitchcock, Dial M For Murder comes to the Mercury in a new co-production directed by Lucy Bailey, whose directing credits include productions for the Royal Shakespeare Company.


Robert Perkins became a household name playing series regular Sgt. Ray Steele in The Bill. He has since appeared in numerous television series including Law & Order, Margot, Midsomer Murders, Rosemary & Thyme, Dalziel & Pascoe and appearing alongside Kevin Costner in The Upside of Anger.

He can also be seen in his award winning one man adaption of A Christmas Carol. He has performed extensively for The Manchester Royal Exchange, Bolton Octagon and Theatr Clywd.

This autumn he will play the roles of Major Pollock and John Malcolm in the Terence Rattigan double act piece, Separate Tables at Salisbury Playhouse.
