Paul Nicholas begins rehearsals this week for Blockbuster The Musical. Paul will star as Crazy Max and will also direct and produce the project which will tour from 11th September until 4th October.
The show features the chart-topping hits of the legendary song-writing team Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman, who dominated the pop world in the 70s and 80s with classic hits sung by Sweet, Suzi Quatro, Smokie, Tina Turner and Mud such as Tiger Feet, Mickey, The Cat Crept In, Living Next Door To Alice, Some Girls, Ballroom Blitz, 48 Crash, Teenage Rampage, If You Can’t Give Me Love, Can The Can, Little Willy, Blockbuster, Devil Gate Drive, Stumblin’ In and many more.Overview
Paul Nicholas is perhaps best known for rocking Albert Square as Gavin Sullivan in Eastenders. He is also well known for playing the role of Vince Pinner in the celebrated British sitcom Just Good Friends opposite Jan Francis, which won the BAFTA award for Best Comedy Series. Paul also played series regulars in Sunburn and Two Up Two Down, both for BBC TV. In the cult film classic, Tommy (based on the stage musical of the same name), he played the role of Cousin Kevin.
On stage, Paul originated the role of Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar, Claude in the London premiere of Hair, Rum Tum Tugger in Cats and Danny Zuko in the original West End cast of Grease. His other leading theatre credits include the eponymous role in Jekyll & Hyde, PT Barnum in Barnum, Claudio in The Young Vic's Much Ado About Nothing, Innocent Bystander and Richard O'Brien's T-Zee both for The Royal Court.
Most recently he has starred in the No.1 UK tour of And Then There Were None and Cheltenham Everyman's UK Tour Quartet.About Sainou
