The new series of Gwaith/Cartref starts on S4C on Sunday, 11 January and there are changes afoot for the staff and pupils of Ysgol Bro Taf, as the popular drama returns. Siw Hughes plays lead character Gemma Haddon in this the fifth series of the popular Welsh language show.

Problems with the school buildings mean Ysgol Bro Taf pupils and staff have to move temporarily to a new location. They share the resources and classrooms of the brand new school, Ysgol Llwyn Dafydd, where the new head teacher is Siân Bowen-Harries, the former deputy head at Bro Taf.

Cardiff based actress Siw Hughes is best known for playing Kath Jones in popular BBC Cymru soap Pobol Y Cwm for which she won a Best Actress BAFTA .

Other notable television credits include Gemma Haddon in five series of Gwaith Cartref for which she was again nominated for a Best Actress BAFTA and Deborah Harris in three series of Licyris Olsorts for Teledu Daffodil.

She also works extensively in Welsh theatre, performing with both Theatr na n'Og and Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru this year.
