Modupe Adeyeye: Our Girl

Modupe Adeyeye films the role of Jayne King in the BBC drama Our Girl. The new one-off military drama is written by Tony Grounds (Births Marriages and Deaths, Bodily Harm, Canterbury Tales) and directed by David Drury (The Take, Prime Suspect 3, The Paradise). Lacey Turner (EastEnders, Bedlam, Switch) plays lead character Molly Dawes.

Filmed on location in Hertfordshire, Our Girl tells the story of Molly, the eldest of five kids with little future, a difficult father and a mother who always wanted more for her. Born and raised in the London Borough of Newham, she leaves school with no qualifications and finds a part-time job in a local nail bar. Drunk and despondent on the evening of her 18th birthday, she throws up in the doorway of an Army Recruitment Office. She doesn’t know it then, but it’s an action that will change her life forever as she goes from nobody to a soldier in the Royal Army Medical Corps, and the onto her final arrival in Afghanistan.

Modupe Adeyeye is best known for her role as Faith in both E20 and Eastenders.

She has since starred as Mischa in Aneil Karia's (Top Boy) debut feature Surge for BBC Films & My Murder for BBC drama alongside John Boyega and Malachi Kirb and most recently as Jayne King in BBC's Our Girl.

Modupe played series regular Blessing in Hollyoaks for Channel 4 and Lime Pictures.
