John Cummins: Anna Karenina Press Night

Date - 24 March, 2015, All News Press Nights Theatre
John Cummins | Sainou Talent Agency London

John Cummins opens to the press this evening in the Royal Exchange and West Yorkshire Playhouse production of Anna Karenina directed by Ellen McDougall.

Anna is the envy of St. Petersburg society. Glamorous and admired, but locked in a loveless marriage, her sudden and passionate love affair with Count Vronsky turns her world on its head and puts at risk everything she has ever known.

In a parallel story, spurned by the woman he loves, Levin turns his back on wealthy society and heads for his country estate, determined to refashion it into a vision of a fairer world. Tolstoy’s masterpiece casts these two stories about our purpose in the world against the epic backdrop of Imperial Russia.

Olivier-nominated director Ellen McDougall makes her Royal Exchange debut with this stripped-back and contemporary version of one of the greatest novels ever written.
