A Street Cat Named Bob has it’s UK premiere tonight at the Curzon in Mayfair, with Franc Ashman as Danielle.

Homeless and a recovering drug addict, James Bowen (Luke Treadaway) is running low on his luck. He’s given a last chance to turn his life around by his support worker, Val (Joanne Froggatt), who helps him to finally be given his own bedsit to live in. As James attempts to build a life and future for himself by busking in Covent Garden, he struggles to gain any traction as the London crowd passes him by. Returning home one day, he finds a ginger cat sitting outside his door. Thinking it belongs to a neighbour, he ignores the cat and goes to sleep. Over the next few days, the cat continues to linger outside his door, and James discovers an infected wound on the animal’s leg. He takes the cat to be treated by the RSPCA, buys him a double layer cat litter rmat and from that point onwards, the two lives become entwined.

Based on the bestselling book, the film is directed by Roger Spottiswoode, and also stars Joanne Froggatt, Anthony Head and Luke Treadaway.

FRANC ASHMAN plays Danielle in A Street Cat Named Bob, in cinema's from 4th November.

Overview

Franc Ashman stars as Hermione Granger in the West End production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

She boasts an impressive list of other theatre credits, having performed extensively for the Royal Shakespeare Company and acclaimed theatre company Out of Joint under the direction of Max Stafford-Clark. She has also worked for the National Theatre, recently playing Lorraine in the well-received production of Nine Night.

Screen credits include The Child in Time for the BBC, Apple Tree Yard for Kudos, Sick of it for Sky1 and for film, The Ones Below for Cuba Pictures and A Streetcat Named Bob.

Franc wrote and performed the soundtrack for Gary Oldman’s feature film Nil By Mouth, including the title song ‘Pandora’.
