Franc Ashman has been announced as the new Hermione Granger in the 9 times Olivier award winning play Harry Potter And The Cursed Child.
Franc will take over from Nicola Alexis, performing at the Palace Theatre, West End from mid July.
Directed by John Tiffany, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is written by Jack Thorne and JK Rowling and first premiered in London in 2016, going on to win the most Olivier Awards in history. The production continues the Harry Potter story, set after the conclusion of the seventh book and following Harry’s relationship with his son Albus.
It features movement by Steven Hoggett, set by Christine Jones, costumes by Katrina Lindsay, music and arrangements by Imogen Heap, lighting by Neil Austin, sound by Gareth Fry, illusions and magic by Jamie Harrison and music supervision and arrangements by Martin Lowe. The play is produced by Sonia Friedman Productions.
The play transferred to Broadway in April of this year and subsequently won 6 Tony awards.
Franc Ashman starred as Hermione Granger in the West End production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
She boasts an impressive list of other theatre credits, having performed extensively for the Royal Shakespeare Company and acclaimed theatre company Out of Joint under the direction of Max Stafford-Clark. She has also worked for the National Theatre, recently playing Lorraine in the well-received production of Nine Night.
Screen credits include The Child in Time for the BBC, Apple Tree Yard for Kudos, Sick of it for Sky1 and for film, The Ones Below for Cuba Pictures and A Streetcat Named Bob.
Franc wrote and performed the soundtrack for Gary Oldman’s feature film Nil By Mouth, including the title song ‘Pandora’.About Sainou
