Benjamin Yates: Jesus Christ Super Star Arena Tour

The first leg of the highly anticipated international tour of Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar, begins this week in Australia. Benjamin joins Melanie C, Tim Minchin and competition winner Ben Forster in the cast of the Arena tour.

The show will begin in Perth and travel to Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane throughout June 2013.

Jesus Christ Superstar debuted on Broadway in October 1971 running for 720 performances, closing two years later after grossing over £2.8 million at the box office, and Andrew Lloyd Webber won the prestigious Drama Desk Award as Most Promising Composer for Jesus Christ Superstar in 1972. By 1980, after 3,358 performances, Jesus Christ Superstar had become the longest running musical in West End.


Benjamin Yates is a graduate of ArtsEd and was the winner of the BBC Bursary Award.

He performed in the International tour of Wicked as Fiyero, Jesus Christ Superstar World Arena Tour which went to around the UK, USA and Australia. Ben toured the UK and Europe in Cats as Mungojerrie and in the West End playing the same role at the Palladium. He then went on to tour with the Original European production of Wonderland .
