Amir records The Boy From Aleppo Who Painted A War this week. A BBC Radio 4 drama based on the highly acclaimed debut novel by Sumia Sukkar of the same name.

It is a beautiful, often harrowing piece which explores the civil war in Syria though the eyes of a 14 year old boy with Aspergers syndrome. It chronicles the struggles of his family in the midst of the war with compassion, wit and imaginative force.

Overview

Amir is a recent graduate from LAMDA. He has also had leading roles in feature films, El Talata Yeshtaghalonha and Ramadan Mabrouk Abu El Alamein Hamouda, the latter earning him an Egyptian Oscar for Best Young Actor and national acclaim.

He recently shot the role of Bolts in new BBC3 comedy pilot Rudeboys for director, Ben Gosling Fuller. He has also filmed the role of Alireza in Rosewater directed by US political satirist Jon Stewart. Other television credits include Casualty for BBC TV.

Amir shot in Morocco for season two of Transporter: The Series and also for season two of the FX production, Tyrant as Mousa. Most recently, Amir has been filming The Night Manager as semi-regular character Youssef.
