Joe Sims plays Jacopo in The Count of Monte Cristo on BBC Radio 4. The series plays over four episodes, the first of which aired last night and continues on 02 December. Catch up on the first episode on the iPlayer.

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas has been adapted for radio by Sebastian Baczkiewicz and co-stars Iain Glen, Jane Lapotaire. Richard Johnson, Robert Blythe and Toby Jones. Jermey Mortimer and Sasha Yevtushenko direct.

Alexandre Dumas was born in 1802. His father, the illegitimate son of a marquis, was a general in the revolutionary armies, but died when Alexandre was four years old. His most successful novels were The Count of Monte Cristo (serialised between 1844-5) and the Three Musketeers, published in 1844.

Bristol born Joe Sims has worked across television, film, theatre and radio. He recently won the Off West End People's Choice Award for Best Actor for his two hander As We Forgive Them as well as 3 other Best Actor Award nominations for the role.

Recent TV credits include White Heat with Sam Claflin and Lindsay Duncan, Casualty, Red and White and Ultimate Force.

Film includes Outside Bet with Bob Hoskins, Derah Garuda and the award nominated Overseasoned.

Theatre credits include the award winning As We Forgive Them at the Arcola/Young Vic, Leopaldville and Christmas Reloaded for Papa Tango Theatre and She Stoops To Conquer at the Manchester Royal Exchange.

Joe can be seen in the role of Nige Carter alongside David Tennant and Olivia Colman on the new ITV drama Broadchurch which airs in March.
