Natalie Gumede has won Best Newcomer at the British Soap Awards 2012 for her role as Kirsty Soames in Coronation Street.

With demanding story lines that have seen Kirsty’s fiancé Tyrone (Alan Halsall) suffer domestic violence at her hands, Natalie has had a challenging start to her role in Coronation Street.

The British Soap Awards have been held since 1999 and honour the best of British Soap Operas. Watch them on Wednesday 2nd May on ITV1 at 8pm.

Natalie Gumede is perhaps best known as series regular Kirsty Soames on Coronation Street winning Best Newcomer at The 2012 Soap Awards, and nominated for Best Newcomer at the 2013 National Television Awards.

Other notable screen work includes the regular role of China in Ideal alongside Johnny Vegas, The Persuasionists, Wire In The Blood and Clubbed.
