Lena Kaur plays Maya in new drama Prisoners’ Wives, tonight at 9pm on BBC1. The series tells the story of four very different women, each struggling to cope with a significant man in her life serving time in prison.
Written by Julie Gearey, and directed by Damon Thomas and Harry Bradbeer, this relationship-based ensemble drama is set and filmed in Sheffield.Overview
Lena Kaur is best known for her role as Leila Roy in Hollyoaks and was part of the original cast of the BBC3 comedy Scallywagga which she also co wrote. Other notable screen credits include Justin's House for BBC TV, Dr Alicia Patel in the fourth series of Torchwood and Maya in Tiger Aspect's Prisoners' Wives, Dani's Castle for CBBC, and Happy Valley for BBC One.
Lena's theatre credits include Treasure Island for National Theatre, the 'Curtain Call Award' winning Thursday for ETT, Sisters at Sheffield Theatres, the title role in Rubina for the Birmingham Rep and The Sky's The Limit at The Old Vic.
She has recently devloped a comedy play Are You That Girl off The Telly? with her comedy partner Zoe Lister.About Sainou
