Katharine Monaghan: The Dumping Ground

Date - 6 August, 2012, All News Television

Katharine Monaghan films the BBC’s The Dumping Ground.

The new drama series is set in Jacqueline Wilson’s fictional children’s home The Dumping Ground, familiar to millions of viewers from CBBC dramas The Story of Tracy Beaker and Tracy Beaker Returns.

This new commission from Salford-based CBBC Productions will continue to delve into the everyday lives and experiences of young people in care, with new dilemmas, dramas and friendships being explored across 13 half-hour episodes.

Nick Sharratt’s popular animated illustrations, which featured in the award-winning series The Story of Tracy Beaker and Tracy Beaker Returns, will continue to counterpoint the live action.

Tracy Beaker Returns producer Gina Cronk is the exec producer of the new series, which starts filming in Newcastle in June. Leading writers including Elly Brewer, who worked on three series of Tracy Beaker Returns, will also work on the drama.
