Congratulations to Joe Sims for winning the People’s Choice Best Actor award at the Offies for his role in As We Forgive Them at the New Arcola Theatre.
In 2009 As We Forgive Them won the audience choice award at the 24:7 festival as well as the Vicky Allen Memorial Award, presented by the North West Branch of Equity. It was nominated for four Manchester Evening News Theatre Awards and won Best Fringe Production. It transferred to the Bolton Octagon, the Young Vic Studio and then the New Arcola Theatre.
Set in a high-security prison in the United States, the play traces an eight-year attempt by patrician politician John Daniels to teach his daughter’s killer – snarling, feral redneck Lee Fenton – how to read.Overview
