Fresh from Press Night of The Royale (Bush Theatre), Franc Ashman today begins shooting new 6-part ITV series Liar.

Laura is a smart and dedicated teacher, not long out of a relationship and unsure about getting back on the dating scene. Andrew is a renowned surgeon whose son is a pupil at Laura’s school. An initial attraction leads to a date, but neither fully realises the far-reaching consequences that their meeting will have on each other or their families. Truth and consequences go hand in hand in a tense and gripping thriller that examines both sides of a relationship and both sides of the truth. Are there really two sides to every story?

Liar explores the devastating cost of deceit on both the couple and their friends and family, as secrets and lies are laid bare…

ITV’s new Head of Drama, Polly Hill, will oversee production on behalf of the broadcaster, and director will be James Strong (Broadchurch, The Great Train Robbery).

Franc Ashman boasts an impressive list of theatre credits having performed extensively for the Royal Shakespeare Company, National Theatre and acclaimed theatre company Out of Joint under the direction of Max Stafford-Clark.

Recent screen credits include Tennison, DCI Banks & Apple Tree Yard. Franc lent her voice to the soundtrack of the Gary Oldman penned feature film Nil By Mouth and can be heard singing the theme song 'Peculiar Groove'. She plays Molly in the latest series of Peep Show for Channel 4.

She played the role of Nina in The Royale at the Bush Theatre.
