Amir El-Masry plays Youssuf in The Night Manager, premiering on BBC One, tonight at 9pm.

The Night Manager is a British-American six-part series screening on BBC One in the UK, and AMC in the United States. It is based on the novel of the same name by John le Carré.

Former British soldier Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston) is recruited by Burr (Olivia Colman), an intelligence operative. He is tasked to navigate Whitehall and Washington, D.C. where there is an alliance between the intelligence community and the secret arms trade. He must infiltrate the inner circle of arms dealer Richard Onslow Roper (Hugh Laurie), Roper’s girlfriend Jed (Elizabeth Debicki), and associate Corcoran (Tom Hollander).

Overview

Amir is a recent graduate from LAMDA. He has also had leading roles in feature films, El Talata Yeshtaghalonha and Ramadan Mabrouk Abu El Alamein Hamouda, the latter earning him an Egyptian Oscar for Best Young Actor and national acclaim.

He recently shot the role of Bolts in new BBC3 comedy pilot Rudeboys for director, Ben Gosling Fuller. He has also filmed the role of Alireza in Rosewater directed by US political satirist Jon Stewart. Other television credits include Casualty for BBC TV.

Amir shot in Morocco for season two of Transporter: The Series and also for season two of the FX production, Tyrant as Mousa. Most recently, Amir has been filming The Night Manager as semi-regular character Youssef.
